Humans are captivated by grandness, so how do you get people to stop what they are doing and look, when you create something small? That question inspired Ende Collective’s founder and artist Krista Gambrel to create a ring called Expanding Universe. We introduced Ende Collective as a Must Know Brand before because of their remarkable jewelry. We had the honor to shoot a phenomenal fashion editorial with their most original piece. We proudly present the end result of the amazing Ende Collective X TORNADEAUX Magazine collaboration.
Before coming up with the design of the Expanding Universe ring, Krista started the proces by asking herself a question to activate her design thinking: ‘can you create something you have never seen before?’ After reading Aesthetics and subjectivity from Kant to Nietzche on the plane, some ideas came to her. She started visualizing shapes, structures and concepts, pulled six combination of things together and drew them on the back of the book.
There was one completely original design out of the six drawings, the Expanding Universe. Krista could not be happier with her creation: ‘this ring never fails to make people stop and look when I wear it. It never ceases to make me smile when I hear people say to me they have never seen anything like it before.’
The concept and styling
A purely original piece of jewelry deserves an impressive fashion editorial to introduce it to the world properly. Ende Collective trusted us to come up with the concept of the editorial and to carry it out. Sanne came up with the concept and styling. ‘There where a few characteristics of the Expanding Universe ring that caught my attention: the infinity and how unconventional and outstanding the design is. I figured these aspects should be reflected in the editorial.’
A dessert is close to infinite, at least it seems that way: a perfect match for the Expanding Universe ring. Sanne created an outstanding look with super flared pants and a slightly unconventional hairstyle to top it of.
